Today I want to tell you all about a new gadget I got for my Dodge Challenger SRT8. It’s from the folks over at Innovate Motorsports and if you have ever had to pay someone to clear a trouble code, diagnose a problem on your car or need to data log your car’s performance then this tool is definitely for you. It’s called the OT-2 or Open Tune OBD-II Interface and what it can do is nothing short of amazing.

The see what the OT-2 is all about and what it can do for you, check out the video below from Innovate Motorsports.

The OT-2 establishes a direct connection to your car’s On-Boad Diagnostic System via the OBD-II port. It then creates a Wifi connection to your smartphone to eliminate the need to permanently mount gauges and give you the freedom to control the features of the OT-2 wirelessly.
The OT-2 has the ability to record up to 16 channels of data and display up to three channels as virtual gauges using your smartphone’s screen. The DTC function can diagnose and clear trouble code lights which can eliminate expensive trips to the dealer. The OT-2 also has a dyno function which allows the user to monitor vehicle functions and quantify how a vehicle reacts to different conditions and after modifications in a real world environment.

In addition to all the performance features of the OT-2, it also can serve as an efficiency meter to help you drive more efficiently if you choose to do so.

So, Will it work on my vehicle?

The OT-2 works on over 95% of vehicles manufactured after 1996. Any vehicle manufactured in 1996 or prior utilizes a different On-Board Diagnostic system that is incompatible with the OT-2 device.
Is it easy to install?

YES!!! The OT-2 can be installed in under 2 minutes by almost anyone in 4 simple steps:

1. Download the FREE LogWorks Mobile App onto your iPhone or iPod Touch, available in the iTunes app store.
2. Plug in the OT-2 to your vehicles On-Board Diagnostic (OBDII) port (usually under the driver’s side dashboard).
3. Connect to the OT-2′s WiFi signal
4. Launch the Logworks Mobile App and enjoy!

The biggest benefit to the OT-2 is that it is completely portable from vehicle to vehicle. For example, I use my OT-2 to datalog and perform dyno runs on my Challenger SRT8 and then connect it to my daily driver vehicle and monitor to improve my efficiency and gas mileage. I’ve also used it to diagnose and clear trouble codes which eliminated expensive trips to the dealer. It has definitely paid for itself in the short time that I’ve had it.

I always try to find the best products on-line and at the very best price for my loyal readers. The OT-2 retails for $179 plush shipping from the Innovate website, but I’ve negotiated a special deal from the folks at AutoAnything again. For a limited time, they have the OT-2 available for $179 WITH FREE SHIPPING. On top of that, enter the coupon code “15RETAIL” when you submit your order and you get an additional 15% off, taking the total price down to $152.15, but only for a limited time and only if you use the link below. I’ll be reporting more on the OT-2 as I get more familiar, but I’m already very impressed with the amazing functionality at such a bargain price. Order yours today!

OK, so I haven’t been on my blog as much as I would like and I would like to apologize to my loyal readers out there in cyberspace. I haven’t forgotten about you so today I want to let you all know about a hot new part for the 2011+ Dodge Challenger SRT8 392. We all know that the supply of aftermarket parts for the 392 Challenger has been slow so when I see something new, I want to make sure my readers know what’s up.
Anyone who is into performance cars has heard of K&N Engineering. They’ve been designing some of the best aftermarket air filters and cold air intake kits for years. Another thing I like about K&N is that they back up their horsepower claims with real world data so you know what you’re getting for your hard earned money.
Well, the boys (and girls) over at K&N have been taking their time perfecting their cold air intake kit for the new 2011+ Challenger SRT8 392 and now it’s available.

The K&N 69 Series Typhoon Performance Intake Kit is designed specifically for your Challenger 392 and boy does it perform. K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction resulting in additional power and torque. All of them come with a Million Mile Limited Warranty and are guaranteed to increase horsepower.

So, you want proof? Well, here it is: K&N took a bone stock 2011 Challenger SRT8 392 with over 15,000 miles on the clock, installed this kit and strapped it to the dyno. How does 22.24 peak horsepower and 19.25 lbs. ft. of torque sound at the wheels? No other performance intake kit on the market is cranking out these kinds of numbers and because it’s made by K&N, you know the quality, fit and finish are top notch.

OK, so how much does this thing cost, right? I have to admit that I was sold on the Mopar kit and was ready to drop nearly $400 to get one. that is until I found this kit from K&N. On the K&N site, the kit lists for $449, but I’ve arranged a great deal just for my readers through my good friends at Autoanything. They have these kits available right now for $281.95 with free shipping. Also as an added bonus, when you check out, enter the coupon code: 15Retail and you save an additional 15% on your order. That’s another $42.29 off which brings the grand total down to $239.66. But, you have to click the link below to get the deal so do what I did and get this kit while they’re still available because this is going to be a hot seller!

First, a few notes:
My car: 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392
Automatic Transmission
Traction Control Off
4th. Gear Pull
Mustang Dyno

I was hoping for 400 rwhp (* My car has absolutely no mods whatsoever *). I was absolutely floored when they told me the results. 441 rear wheel horsepower and 429 rear wheel torque. Also worth mentioning, this was on a Mustang dyno. Now that I have a baseline , I’m excited to see what the 6.4L Hemi can do.

Delivering performance and an even more aggressive look, the 2012 Dodge Charger Redline is a 426 HEMI®-powered showcase of new Mopar® performance kits
that will arrive later this year. The Dodge Charger Redline vehicle with all three Mopar performance stage kits will debut at the 2012 North American International Auto Show.
“Since the 1960s, the Mopar Brand has built a long history of adding power and performance to the Dodge Charger – and with the Redline, we Moparized the new Charger with modern-day performance and style while giving a nod to our storied past,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC’s service, parts and customer-care brand. “With three kits, Mopar offers a tailored choice for every customer.”

Stage I: Aerodynamic Carbon Fiber Exterior Components and Interior Accents
- Based on the 2012 Dodge Charger R/T model, Mopar’s list of Stage I modifications includes a fullwidth Mopar carbon fiber chin spoiler to give the Charger Redline a more aggressive appearance. Matching the Redline Tri-coat paint, the two-piece grille features a body-color painted-grille surround with black signature “crosshair” insert. Large 20 x 8-inch Mopar Black Envy Wheels feature a Pitch Black-painted wheel face with polished accents. Mopar carbon fiber door scoops highlight Dodge Charger Redline’s signature body-side scallops and include heritage “R/T” badging to pay homage to the historic 1970 Charger model. A three-piece Mopar carbon fiber rear spoiler adds additional down force and provides an even more dynamic look. Emphasizing Dodge Charger Redline’s fastback silhouette is Mopar’s vinyl roof graphic in matte black.
The Dodge Charger Redline’s cockpit design features premium materials and is further enhanced with a Mopar aluminum shift bezel and aluminum instrument panel bezel with Redline perimeter accent. For a more enthusiast-desired look, Mopar pedal covers are made from stainless steel and feature a rubberized pattern for improved traction.
Stage II: Mopar Bolt-on Performance Parts Deliver Improved Power, Handling and Braking
- Designed and tested straight from the factory, the Dodge Charger Redline features Mopar’s Stage II performance kit to enhance its already world-class power, handling and braking. Allowing the Dodge Charger Redline’s legendary HEMI ® V-8 engine to perform at its optimal level, Mopar’s cat-back performance exhaust system delivers an increase in horsepower and a menacing “throaty” sound. Under the hood, a front-tower cross-brace and front tower brace caps provide increased structural stability for improved handling dynamics. For ultimate braking capability, high performance Mopar brake linings are track tested and deliver fade-resistance during hard braking use.

Stage III: Mopar’s Gen III High Output 426 HEMI V-8 engine, with 590 Horsepower on Tap
- Delivering 220 more horsepower than the 2012 Dodge Charger R/T, the Charger Redline features the new high-output version of the powerful and lightweight Gen III 426 HEMI V-8 crate engine (for race/off-road use only). With its legendary 426 cubic-inch “Elephant Motor,” the Dodge Charger Redline delivers 590 horsepower via a lightweight aluminum V-8 engine block that shaves more than 100 lbs. from the traditional cast-iron crate version. The new Gen III High Output 426 HEMI engine is professionally built and includes a stout, balanced lower reciprocating assembly that features a forged-steel crankshaft with six-bolt mains at 2, 3 and 4, and cross-bolted 4-bolt mains at 1 and 5. H-beam style rods are made from forged steel and coupled to forged 11:1 compression ratio aluminum pistons. Included is a revised windage tray to provide excellent oil dispersion and prevents oil aeration by the crankshaft.

The Gen III High Output 426 HEMI engine’s valvetrain starts with a more aggressive roller camshaft with .639 intake and .628 exhaust lift and cylinder heads that feature the latest designs for exceptional flow characteristics. To help stabilize the valvetrain at high engine rpm, tie bars are available. Mopar cast-aluminum valve covers and billet fuel rails are also included in the Dodge Charger Redline’s Stage III performance kit.

  Chrysler Media Press Release

Auburn Hills, Mich. , Nov 9, 2011 - Designed and built for the core performance enthusiast, the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8® Super Bee makes its public debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show on Nov. 16.

There is no mistaking the unreserved performance attitude of the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee. Available in either Stinger Yellow or Pitch Black exterior paint with special Super Bee graphics, the exclusive models reflect a specially designed modern and extroverted interpretation of the legendary Super Bee performance built for the enthusiast who enjoys a vehicle with one mission in mind – to go fast.

“The 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee is a salute to the fun-loving past of Dodge muscle cars powered by the legendary 392 HEMI® V-8 in a back-to-basics performance machine,” Ralph Gilles, President and CEO – SRT and Motorsports said.

Exclusive Super Bee Content Inside and Out
The race-inspired interior of the 2012 Charger SRT8 Super Bee features the SRT exclusive three-spoke contoured performance steering wheel, exclusive Z-stripe cloth performance seats with amped yellow and silver striping in both the front and rear as well as silver accent stitching and embroidered Super Bee logos on each of the front seat headrests.

The instrument panel also features the Charger Super Bee logo on a unique dash plaque.

Newly modified software includes the appearance of the Super Bee logo in the center instrument panel’s Electronic Vehicle Information Center at vehicle start up.

On the exterior, the Charger Super Bee features a unique SRT badge with a 3-D helmeted bee mascot on the new split crosshair grille finished in Gloss Black.

Satin black hood graphics mirror the black decklid stripes with a solid wide center line flanked by solid dual tracer lines on the Stinger Yellow model, while charcoal gray graphics are used on the hood and decklid of the Pitch Black model. Standard rear decklid spoilers are matte black on the Stinger Yellow model or matching body color on the Pitch Black model.

Both front fenders tout the historically significant V-8 engine with “392 HEMI” badges first seen on the 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392. Flanking both rear fenders are the legendary round Super Bee graphics, which now include the wording “Powered by SRT” to commemorate the modern incarnation of this celebrated performance icon.

New 20 x 9-inch, five-spoke cast-aluminum wheels with black painted pockets developed specifically for the Super Bee models provide a unique performance look.

Available Goodyear F1 Supercar three-season, ultra high performance tires give the Super Bee tenacious grip on the road or track. Also available are Goodyear Eagle RS-A 2 all-season tires that make the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee an all-season performance machine.

Braking power for the Super Bee comes courtesy of SRT engineered Brembo brakes with vented and slotted rotors with four-piston Brembo calipers painted anodized black.

A limited number of 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee units will be built for the U.S. market. All Dodge Charger models are built at the Brampton Assembly plant in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.

Both Stinger Yellow and Pitch Black Super Bee models will be available for ordering in December at Dodge dealerships nationwide and will be arriving in U.S. dealer showrooms in the first quarter of 2012.

SRT’s legendary performance
The 2012 Dodge Charger Super Bee is powered by the new 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 that delivers 45 more horsepower and 50 more lb.-ft. of torque than the 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 it replaces – up 11 percent to 470 horsepower (351 kW) and up 12 percent to 470 (637 N•m) lb.-ft. of torque.

The new for 2012, exclusive SRT heated steering wheel features available mounted paddle shifters for hands on the wheel shifting both on road and at the race track

World-class stopping power from 60-0 mph in 120 feet comes through 14.2 inch (front) and 13.8 inch (rear) vented/slotted rotors with four-piston Brembo calipers. Improved brake cooling and fade performance at all four corners comes courtesy of a new underbody belly pan with integrated brake ducting.

Performance numbers include 0-60 mph acceleration in the high 4-second range; quarter mile in the high 12-second range; 0-100-0 mph in less than 16 seconds; top speed of 175 mph and stopping power from 60-0 mph in 120 feet.

Super Bee history
The Dodge Super Bee, first introduced in 1968 as a member of Dodge’s Scat Pack performance group, brought a high-performance vehicle to the low price class.

Based on the mid-sized Coronet model, the standard engine for 1968 was the 335 horsepower version of the 383 cubic-inch V-8 while the legendary 426 HEMI V-8 also was available.

The standard transmission was a heavy-duty four-speed manual with a Hurst Competition-Plus floor shifter. The power bulge hood let everyone know this was no ordinary car. The Super Bee could accelerate to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds and cover the quarter mile in 15 seconds. Not bad for a car that you could buy for a little more than $3,000.

In 1969, the radical 440 Six-Pack was added to the Super Bee’s list of engine options. By placing three Holly two-barrel carburetors on top of the 440 Magnum V-8, the Super Bee generated 390 horsepower and 490 lb.-ft.of torque.

The Super Bee was switched to the Charger model for 1971 but continued to offer its impressive engine line-up, as well as its heavy duty suspension. The Hemi-power ’71 Super Bee could reach 60 mph in 5.7 seconds and ran the quarter mile in only 13.7 seconds.

In its brief original four year run, the name Super Bee reached legendary status by giving the customer an ultra-high performance vehicle that they could drive to work during the week, yet take to the track on the weekend and outperform the competition.

For the 2007 model year, Dodge and SRT revived the Super Bee nameplate with the limited-edition Dodge Charger SRT8. It featured “Detonator Yellow” exterior color with black hood and deck-lid face, unique “hockey stick” stripes on the rear fenders, Super Bee logos on front and rear fenders, and contrasting yellow stitching on the seats, steering wheel and shift knob. The wheels were fully polished versus the stock SRT8 Charger which featured wheels with silver painted areas.

Powered by the 6.1-liter HEMI® V-8 producing 425 hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque, the 2007 Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee was the first special edition Charger from SRT. Only 1,000 units were built for the 2007 model year.

The 2008 Charger SRT8 Super Bee package featured a B5 Blue Pearl Coat exterior reminiscent of the blue used by Chrysler vehicles in the 1960s and 1970s. Instead of fully polished SRT8 Charger wheels, the “pockets” were painted black. Blue accent stitching inside replaced the yellow found on the seats and steering wheel from the previous model year. Only 1,000 units of the Charger SRT8 Super Bee were built in 2008.

In 2009, the Super Bee package featured Hemi Orange Pearl Coat paint with decals on the hood and rear quarter fenders; new Super Bee wheels with black anodized pockets with silver Brembo brake calipers. On the inside were orange accented seats and a serialized dash plaque. Only 425 units of the Super Bee were built in 2009.

SRT Track Experience
Owners of any Chrysler Group SRT vehicle receive one day of professional driving instruction from the SRT Track Experience, designed to maximize their driving knowledge and skills on the street or track. Sessions are held throughout the year at selected tracks.
