NEW 2009 SRT8 Challenger sells for $29.1K on EBay – Dealer Refuses to Honor Auction

0

From the guys and gals over at Challengertalk.com comes the tale of an EBay auction gone awry.  Apparently a user over there by the name of “Hitman” won an auction recently for a new B5 Blue 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8.  The final bid was $29,100.  Now, that seems like a smokin’ deal for a new SRT Challenger since the sticker price of this car is roughly $45,000.  However, here’s where the whole deal goes bad.  The story goes: the dealer (Glenn E Thomas Dodge Chrysler Jeep2100 E Spring St., Signal Hill, CA) “accidentally” forgot to put a reserve on the auction so they don’t want to honor the auction selling price since it would mean a huge loss for them.  They are even violating their own disclaimer at the bottom of the auction:

Disclaimer: This auction is a legally binding contract to buy this vehicle. All vehicles are sold as-is unless otherwise specified. I have done my best to accurately describe this vehicle. It is up to the buyer to come see and further inspect the car before the end of the auction”.

This story is popping up all over the internet now which is going to amount to a ton of negative publicity for the selling dealership if they don’t honor the deal.  Check out the link to the auction below.
